hi
its been 3 months or so that i have my soul here in tel aviv, israel. ive already did light all mountain riding on it at my local trails, 65 km endurance race at the golan mountains(the finish was a long downhill to the Galilee sea..) 23 km xc race at the desert(south of the dead sea) and last week a proper desert ride- from the south of jerusalem to the dead sea. all bolders, rocks, and knives(narrow singles on the side of a mountain..if you lose your balance its along way down..)
well- i love it. it does everything, and with great style and finesse. i think im the only one in the country with a cotic, so it sure turns lots of heads.
since ive got it my full suspension bike(morewood mbuzi-6' travel) dont get any daylight...
here are some pics- im sure you have never seen the soul modeling at the desert..
:)

best regards

From: Luke
Date: 7 December 2011 20:31
Subject: My BFe
To: Paul Dexter <paul@cotic.co.uk>

Hi Paul,
Hope all is well and sorry for the random phone call yesterday! Was absolutely over the moon after that ride. Still has me buzzing now :) . As we said I have attached some photos to show you to see the final build!

After a tear up in the woods.

Spec as follows:

Cotic BFe frame in large
2012 Rockshox Revalation RLT 150mm travel w/15mm maxle
60mm Ragley stem
710mm wide Ragley bar
Hope headset
Drivetrain: 2x9
XT shifters
XT rear mech
XT cassette and chain
SLX double with bash cranks and SLX B/B
SLX double front mech to suit
SLX M666 brakes on XT RT76 discs - 203mm front , 180mm rear
Hope Pro 2 Evo wheelset on DT Swiss EX500 rims
Specialized Purgatory 2.2 front tyre
Specialized Ground control 2.0 rear
Specialized Henge saddle w/Ti Rails
Ragley seatpost

Weight wise, i didn't really know what to expect, I was aiming for 29-30lbs, anything under a bonus for the type of build. Weighed in at just over 27lbs. Very happy!

think i have covered it all! as said on the phone, rides absolutely AMAZING, climbs well and decends like Villain! handling is tight, feels so compliant. Again, thanks for all your help Paul, service has been flawless.

definitely a COTIC fan now!

all the best.

Luke

P.S excuse the poor quality headset spacers and such high stack! i am going to reduce it to 20mm under the stem! just seeing how it feels and is for sure too high!

CY,

Here are a couple of pics from the 3 peaks the other weekend. Honest it is an ‘X’ under all of that mud! Bike was spot on – just right for the ride. If I get any more pics I’ll send em across.

Dear Cy, dear Paul and all the others at cotic,

I just read Eric's post. Maybe you can put mine alos on posterous. So I
wanted to share a picture of my soul (L) with you. This has been taken on
a ride an the ridge between Saalbach and Leogang (Eric you are familiar
with that region, which is my second home. I also own a small business in
a wine growing region (the Wachau) and whenever I can get away for one or
two days I ride with my friends in the Salzburger Land around Zell am
See/Saalbach/Leogang.

Th soul is just a blast to ride and I usually need to wait for my buddies
after a long uphill and also downhill and they all ride some All-Mountain
or Freeride bikes ;).

Whenever you are in the eastern part of Austria you are cordially invited.

Tue, 19 Jul 2011 01:44:49 -0700 BFe in Germany http://cotic.cc/bfe-in-germany http://cotic.cc/bfe-in-germany Hey Paul,

just a short update:

a lot of new pics, I was in Saalbach-Hinterglemm riding some fantastic
trails with my BFe and I wanted to let you know how happy I am with
that bike.
I changed some more parts and now have the best for my what I want to
do with that bike.

I usually am a Singlespeeder, fif not have gears or a a suspension
fork since 2003, but I wanted to try that category of bikes that are
so
popular in UK and that was a great decision...

I started with a Santa Cruz Chameleon which I did not like at all.

Then came the BFe...
I must say, I own a lot of bikes, like I said mostly Singlespeeds from
the finest companys there are...
A few custom made, I have a Steelman SSP and a geared one  and a very
rare Phil Wood Piss Off, made from fine Titanium
by Independet Fabrication ) and I had a Sycip etc...
Those all are great bikes, unique and very special.

Your frames are not unique, well, here in germany they kind of are,
but you get what I mean...

And I put parts on it I never used... and I have so much fun...
I`m quite heavy, I`m 36 and I have 2 little girls and own my own
little company ( nothing great, but mine ) so I can`t afford
to crash heavily and I`m way to frightened to ride big things or jump
from my rooftop, but the BFe in that build up with those big Fox36
forks does give me such a feeling of security...
I now ride things or jump over things I always had to push my bike before...
A bit heavy, yes, but it is my most favorite bike since the last
months and will stay that for a long time.
I even have ordered a Simple frame from Carsten, too bad you did stick
with the same colour as the Soul is ( and that 27.2 Seatpost, I love
the fat post of my BFe ) but hey...
So, just a big thank you for building such great frames, or selling
them, or use your ideas of frame building and make that possible...
If any of those pics you like feel free to use them for whatever you
find suitable... I`d be happy to help, and I tell everyone what a
great company that is and
what great frames you build...
THanks,
Erik"

Hi Cy,

Just wanted to thank you for the frame, which has been received, and built!

I promised Paul to send it a few photo's, so here's a link:

http://www.cload.com/gallery/cotic

The bike build came in at 29lb, which is great for what I need.  And
it rides SOOOOO beautifully!  I was out today in 30 degree heat,
sweating like a sweaty-thing with a huge grin on my face!  Congrats on
a brilliant design!!!  Carbon and Aluminium are dead - long live Iron!

Thanks again - you have one very happy customer!

Cheers, Nic.

Hi Cy,
I'm just mailing you a few pics of our Cotics. My friend Nige and I
own a Soul and a BFe and wanted to let you know that the 'Cotic
Brothers' are livin' it large on our local trails. The pic with both
bikes is at the Cotic sponsored Sherwood Pines trail. It's our local
haunt just to enjoy, train on and rip for our other rides at Cannock
and Dalby.
The bike on it's own is of my "Dark Knight'. It's black and gold
throughout and this is in urban mode with a set of ZTR Flows rocking a
High Roller SS and a Holy Roller. Even the carbon handlebar is black
and gold and bares a toning resemblance to the fab Cotic reflective
decals of the BFe. Apologies for the shadow of me in the pic but
couldn't really be helped with me trying to get the right angle.
Hope you like. Nige and I both 'love' our bikes and were wondering if
there is any chance of a shout out on your website/blog??????
Cheers Cy and hope you're well.
Cotic rules!!!

Hi guys,

only 1.5 years after buying my frame from you, I remembered that I promised to send you pictures. Sorry.

Unfortunately, I do not have any good riding shots, but I hope you like the pictures anyway. Is there another Soul out there with a Lefty? ;-)

Thanks for building this great bike, it is simply a pleasure to ride on every mile, and served me very well in the Swiss Alps last year.

Hi Folks

Back in April I asked the guys at Freedom Bikes in Brighton to build up a lightweight high spec Soda for me.  At a shade under 21lbs dependant on the tyres that I am running its fair to say they did just that.  I was going to send you some pics at the time but never round to it (too busy riding), so finally here they are.

The bike is awesome, it rides and handles superbly and accelerates like a scolded cat! (Not literally if the cat police are reading this).

Cheers
